Present Simple Tense

 PRESENT SIMPLE TENSE


Present simple tense is also known as present indefinite tense.  

This tense is used :


1. For actions which happen regularly such as habits:

        Examples:

                A). I read newspaper everyday.

                B). She goes to music class on every Saturday.

                C). They play golf in the evening. 


2. For Universal Truths

        Examples:

                A). The sun rises in the east.

                B). Water boils at 100 degree centigrade.

                C). Fish survive only in water.


3. Things that stay the same for a long time

        Examples:

                A). My teacher lives in Texas.

                B). Thomas bats well.


4. To describe Schedules / Timetables etc.

        Examples:

                A). The train leaves at 11:15 in the morning.

                B). English classes start at 2:00  in the afternoon.
